"I heard they're - drafty and you tend to get what you get, and it might be tumbling leaves or other small prints." Noah's keeping still while Stephen works. "Medics - well - it was military medics, and I tended to be in a command position. So it was a lot of - you didn't know what they were doing, or how unpleasant it would be, and they would do whatever they had to for getting you back on your feet or not moving at all as needs warranted. I tended to be troublesome."
Noah tries out a smile. Compared to Balthier, he's got a deep voice, with a faint twinge of an accent that's not accountable purely to living in Scotland. "I was an Imperial bodyguard and . . . more or less the head of Intelligence gathering. They'd just invaded two countries. The gear was used for things like - you'd get one assigned to you for practice, or for battle, and so on. And I didn't have much time that I wasn't wearing one."
