Who: Tony and Open
When: 05/26/14, evening
Where: bar
What: drunken karaoke
Warnings: Brief mentions of Tony's illness but shouldn't trigger
Tony wasn't drunk yet, but he was planning on being so here in a few minutes. He took a cab to a bar, so he wouldn't have to worry about driving and leaving his car there, and settled in at the bar. He needed to get drunk. He would even make sure to be quiet when he got home, or spend the night in a motel. Tony needed it. He wanted to help Bruce, and didn't know how. He knew he had to fix his shit and get it together. He was no good to Bruce right now. He sat and ordered a Scotch, and drank four of them in a row. Soon, he was really plastered. Tony looked to the stage, someone was doing karaoke, and butchering a Bon Jovi song. He shook his head, and booed with everyone else.
Then he got an idea. He stumbled to the stage, knocking over a few empty chairs on his way. He knew a song that he wanted to sing. He took the mic, and the DJ cued up the song for him. Normally there was a line, but apparently not tonight. Tony held the mic tightly, and murmured that the song was for Bruce, no one paid attention to that part. Then he started to sing. He actually wasn't bad, despite the fact that he was wasted.
The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath.
And emeralds from mountains thrust towards the sky
Never revealing their depth.
Tell me that we belong together,
Dress it up with the trappings of love.
I'll be captivated,
I'll hang from your lips,
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above.
I'll be your crying shoulder,
I'll be love's suicide
I'll be better when I'm older,
I'll be the greatest fan of your life.
And rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed.
You're my survival, you're my living proof.
My love is alive and not dead.
Tell me that we belong together.
Dress it up with the trappings of love.
I'll be captivated,
I'll hang from your lips,
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above
I'll be your crying shoulder,
I'll be love's suicide
I'll be better when I'm older,
I'll be the greatest fan of your life.
And I've dropped out, I've burned up, I've fought my way back from the dead.
I've tuned in, turned on, remembered the things that you said
I'll be your crying shoulder,
I'll be love's suicide
I'll be better when I'm older,
I'll be the greatest fan of your...
I'll be your crying shoulder,
I'll be love's suicide
I'll be better when I'm older,
I'll be the greatest fan of your life.
He cried when he got to the part about fighting back from the dead. He might not live to get to do that. Tony knew Bruce couldn't hear him, but maybe he could sing it for him again when they could really be together. Tony didn't know how that was going to happen, but he knew that if anything, he had to get himself together for Bruce. He might not be able to trust a psychiatrist, but he had to try. He knew he could do it, if it was for Bruce. He could do anything for him
