Shay's head was spinning with the knowledge of Haytham's latest contingency plan. The Grandmaster had taken him along on their just ended mission not so much for his knowledge of artefacts this time, as he had claimed when telling Shay they were going, but to speak to him of other things in between the work that...he wasn't ready to think about until he'd had more sleep thanks.
The work itself had gone okay. Being what he was meant that Shay could take more risks in fighting, and he'd glanced off injuries that would have killed him back at home. They'd hurt at the TIME, and he was probably going to sleep for a few days at this rate, but the ill effects he'd suffered in the fighting were almost gone now, save a knife he'd taken to the kidneys, but that, even as much as it HURT, would heal soon, he told himself.
For the moment, Haytham hadn't wanted to let a tired Shay wander around himself, so he'd made sure he got his lieutenant home before he planned to dart out, though a part of him did look forward to drinks and de-briefing, depending on the situation at the house. Young men and sleepovers... Haytham couldn't relate to THAT at all, but he did remember the pleasure of having his own late best friend, Charles Lee, visiting his home, or visiting Charles as well. Well, aside from the man's Pomeranian obsession anyway. Keeping that pleasure of pleasant company in mind, and the ages of the young men involved and he wasn't quite certain what he would find.
"It will be interesting to see what your lad's gotten up to on his own, won't it?" Haytham quipped as they arrived at the house. "I'm rather curious about my potential new recruit and how he spends his off hours, I will admit."
Shay snorted a little, and opened the door, watching as a deep gash on his hand healed itself straight away. "I'm sure it's nothing dire. The house IS still standing. Better than I'd have done at his age..." He HAD gotten into trouble, well, Shay and Liam for sneaking a poor girl into the Homestead. Joke had been on them when she'd liked what she saw and took up arms in their cause, but Achilles had been plenty angry at the chaos her presence had brought, along with the security measures needed and Shay's disregard for them. "Charlie's a GOOD lad." He added, pausing a moment to check on the boys with Eagle Vision.
"In the den." Haytham interrupted before Shay could tell him. "Let's go and see what's what."
