"Ah the age factor." Meghan shook her head. "I understand that one now, here. Not for the same reasons but...it's still odd to me how much YOUNGER the world seems to want to make us. At home I was near to working on my own, and my mistress was...I like to think she relied on me a bit. But here, they had so much schooling for me to get through, and so many people who decided they had charge of me, even though I was fifteen, then. I found it so...odd."
She still did, actually. "Funny how those things work. But being a hero, I dinnae ken if I'd be able to stop it just for being ...is it no difficult to enforce grounding someone? It seems so...you just restrict them from going out, aye? I cannae say I'd listen too hard if it was my da who'd come up with it. Not with that at stake."
Then again, he'd not have noticed it, really, if she had slipped out. Aedan had stories of getting caught sneaking out while grounded that had not gone well for him, and so it had been enough to deter Meghan from aa good deal of activities.
"I do suppose my mistress, she'd have been upset with that, though. Rhona always was a bit...prickly."
As Peter petted, Mollie, the pale grey, almost white mule, stuck her head into his chest, looking like she was about to dig in pockets for a treat.
"Whoa." Meghan agreed, grinning broadly. "He's a secret of my own I'd had to keep, here. I didnae ken if there were rules about it, peasant apprentice wenches owning hunting birds and he was wild and I was so afraid they'd take him away from me. But, here we are now. No one minded too much up at the house. Prince Sebastian worried I'd get hurt, and so did Ser Noah, but my Uncle Calum didn't mind too much and even Da's no made of stone, so...he got to stay."
Beaming, Meghan waited for Peter to pet the horses, before turning to start outside. "We've goats as well if you'd like to meet them after this."
