Before Peter had started talking, Jacob got up, crossed over to Roman, and briefly thwapped the back of his head. "Knock it off." He said simply, turning his attention back towards Peter.
Honestly, Emmett didn't get what was so wrong about protecting someone who was clearly terrified from the person they were terrified of. Particularly when that person was the reason you were still ali...the reason you had stayed alive up to the point of transition, in his case, he supposed, and did glance at Roman and roll his eyes at that part. Honestly, was he supposed to have just let Roman die if it had come to that? Not for the first time, he wondered what kind of world these two came from where you didn't double down and bring out your boys and your guns when one of your own was in danger, perceived or not. With no way to tell, you went for the safety of the person you cared about and made that your focus first. If you didn't, it was pretty likely they would end up dead. But, something to bring up later.
He didn't say anything yet, but the boyfriend factor was definitely getting mentioned now. Not quite the way he'd planned on confirming the lie to his father, but, hell with it. It'd cut down on that making life awkward. It wasn't like it would have worked anyway. Real relationships weren't exactly an option for most people like him as it was, and no way he was going to have Roman roped into that.
