"I'm not too good at school myself." Aedan confided. "I couldn't read or write at all, before I got here and drove my uncle crazy, when he told Da he'd be the one to teach me. It was hard and all, but...I did want to do it. Finish school that is. They do it with a certificate to show you've done the job, here. They wouldn't let me in an actual school. I'd...legal problems. Spent some time away from home first, and then wasn't allowed back in then, but...I finally finished it Christmas a year ago. I was twenty, but..." He'd still managed.
"I'm still trying it now, the learning. My stepfather, he's a big help with studying and all. Had to get his own school certifications to get his job, so he's got an idea what it's like. School wise, for me..." He looked a bit unsure. "Seems strange, from a thief who did...other things too, but I want to be a justice social worker...like a probation officer in the states. I met a couple really great people who helped me get my life on a track I liked. I'd like to be like them. Help kids in trouble without being an uptight prick about it all."
He laughed at the girls bit. "Oh aye, too true on that. Though Elle's mostly studying with Strange and comes home weekends. And she has...fire mostly. She's learning how to do more...battle oriented magic but she's...what we call elemental. Nature relevant spells. Fire, ice, storm...that sort of a thing. She's scary if crossed wrong."
" My cousin, Meghan's about here too." he added, grinning. "And she's...something else again. No magic, her, but she wants to be a doctor and has this thing with birds. Snuck a hawk home and all. Smoke's out in the barn with my horses if you're interested to meet THEM later."
"Well, I know an Erik who manipulates magnets so if that sounds familiar...No world destroying of any sort though. Contrary to it, actually. I get worrying though. Our Mentor...he does a lot of that."
