Who: Courfeyrac and Marius
What: A phonecall and breaking the "Cosette's in Labor" news
When: After Cosette's text to Courfeyrac
Warnings: Non graphic discussion of water breaking.
Marius jumped up sharply from his laptop, where he was working on a translation as his phone begin blasting out "I'm Too Sexy". Courfeyrac, he thought, grabbing for it at once, hoping it wasn't some sort of prank.
"Courfeyrac, I hope this is important." He said, by way of greeting. "Do you know what time it is?" he added, feeling like he was talking to Antoine or someone again. Then again, out of anyone in that household, Courfeyac was most likely to be the one prank calling in the middle of the night, after all.
"Marius. Are you sitting down?" Courfeyrac asked him, using his most calming voice ever. He hoped that he could manage this at least. The last thing he needed was a freaked out Marius in all of this. That would be bad. Very, very bad. "Cosette's just phoned me. There actually IS something."
"Cosette? What?" Marius's brain, full of German, still, latched onto only a little bit of that. "Is she in danger?" He asked, frowning deeply. "The children?"
"Ah...right." At least he wasn't dealing with a sleepy Marius here. Courfeyrac did wonder when, or if the man slept at all, since not much seemed to have changed since the days they'd roomed together, and he made a mental note to have a talk with him about this later, but for now, well. "Cosette phoned because...you are about to be a father. As in relatively soon. Her ah...fluids broke?"
"Her water? Jesus CHRIST." Marius muttered, and then, not half a moment later, let loose with a few creative curses involving mothers, llamas, and the estate of Alexandre Dumas. "And she called you?" he added, frowning as he moved to get the bag they had packed a while ago. At least he sort of had an idea of what to do, and for the moment, it was comforting Cosette and getting her ready to get out of here.
"Bahorel's on his way to help." Courfeyrac added quickly. "So am I. Neither of us is far. Keep from panicking, much as you can, all right? You've managed it before. You saved me at the baricades by keeping cool. Can you manage it now?"
"I...perhaps." Marius hoped so at least, and, keeping Courfeyrac on the phone, quickly made his way out to help Cosette much as he could for now. He hoped that it would be enough, he truly did. Deep breaths, he reminded himself. Keep on taking those, and things should be all right. Shouldn't they?
