Who: Tommy Shelby and Open
What: Casing the joint, aka getting to know the neighborhood and some shopping for a computer
When: Current
Warnings: Knowing Tommy, at least language is an issue
Tommy had arrived in this new world not so long ago, and spent the last several days getting to know it a bit better. Navigating the internet had proved simple, and addicting enough that he'd spent a few days getting a general sense of history in the last nearly one hundred years, and computers were interesting, both useful and entertaining enough that he could see why they were everywhere, though television didn't quite impress him yet.
He DID however, see some of its appeal to the masses, too. He could see using the medium, and the internet on top of that, to manage something in the way of making money, but, baby steps, eh? He'd need to start out small and low, climb his way up to the top later. At the moment, Tommy needed to find work, of almost any sort, though he drew the line at some things.
Right now, the issue of experience was going to trip him up, but for the moment, they'd seemed happy enough at the agency he'd found, to point in the direction of a few entry level things. There was a job as a groom that he may be a bit old for, another running books for a restaurant, similar for a pub, and more than a few shop assistant options.
Best to get things started by looking into those, he reasoned, starting with the shops since they were nearby, and he needed to pick up a few more modern items anyway. He tried not to be caught out staring too much, though some things, like a modern car, honestly still surprised him.
He found his attention caught up by a display of technology, and didn't quite know which to go with, so he might as well ask around, right?
"Hey sorry." he said, to the first person down the same aisle. "I'll go back to not bothering you in just a moment, but I'm just new here from a bloody long time ago and there don't seem to be any shop assistants at the moment beyond where you pay for things. Do you know if any of these...laptops..." The word was strange to him, "are better than any others?"
