"And that too could be discussed with a therapist. A lot of the fifteen is a bit young is coming out of folks trying to make kids as young as thirteen or ten or so do adult level work, and make adult level choices about their safety." Tony's sitting up a little. "We're talking making kids who were poor and hungry work too long hours with dangerous stuff, and getting hurt for their trouble. And then folks turning around and paying them very little because they're just kids."
"Said kids didn't get normal schooling because they're tired and stuck working most of the time, and they didn't want to go into to school because what good would it do them." Tony's moving to refill his mug. "So some of that isn't that you're not mature, some of that is protecting people from taking advantage of kids. So letting people have time to get schooling and see their choices in life, and also have time to fumble around and make choices about their future without some hotshot kid with barely a beard deciding he wants to be a soldier."
Which might not make sense to her. "But it sounds like you're kind of frustrated a bit that your dad's being protective and you're no longer going to the same job you started at. So that stuff might be good to talk about? Get into classes about the stuff you wanted to get into, get to know the folks around here? Kind of like me. I had a big business at home, and here, I'm doing something with the same skills, but a lot lower stakes as I fill in all the little stuff for getting my feet under me."
