WHO: Sam Witwicky and.. you.
WHAT: Teenage boy at the mall, trying to find his girlfriend a shiny gift.
WHEN: Uh, days or so after the post with Jubilee? I dunno. Pick a day, any day.
WHERE: Angel Grove Mall.
RATING: PG/PG-13? I'll up the rating if I need to. But I highly doubt I will.
Being a boyfriend was something new for Sam Witwicky. Since he was a guy who didn't have all that much luck with the ladies, he didn't have much practice at this sort of thing. Unless you count when in grade school, someone on the playground says that you're their 'boyfriend' and they'll share their lunch with you, but by the time recess is over, they've forgotten your name. At least he got half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and some animal crackers out of that. It was better than having to go hungry that day, because he'd forgotten the lunch his mom packed him at home. But he didn't think that a pb&j sandwich and animal crackers would be something that Mikaela would really be into.
Things had been a little weird between them the past couple of days, thanks to the incident with the bathroom. He still refused to admit what he was doing in the bathroom, and he knew that Mikaela was going to catch on sooner or later, if she hadn't already. He hoped she hadn't. He really didn't want her being unsure about going into the bathroom after him in case he'd been doing something he rather not talk about. He still refused to refer to it as 'Sam's happy time'. Just because it made it sound so.. well, it just made it sound really weird, alright? Maybe it was because his mom was saying that, and it was in front of Mikaela that made it even weirder. It embarrassed him in front of the most perfect girl ever.
So Sam decided he had to do the only thing he could think of to make sure that things didn't keep on being weird between him and Mikaela. She was still sleeping when he slipped out of their room at the shelter, so that was a good sign. Maybe he could go out, get what he needed, and then come back and she'd still be asleep. It wasn't like he was a chick when it came to shopping after all. He knew he was looking for something that he hoped Mikaela would like, and would take as his form of apology for being such a loser lately. Or at least that's how easy it sounded in theory. It sounded like he could do this quickly, without running into any speed bumps. That was, until he realized he didn't think like a girl. He hadn't ever really bought anything for a female, outside of his mom. So this was going to be harder than he thought.
He knew he wanted to get her some jewelry. He had enough money for that, at least. And it wasn't like he was going into one of the super expensive jewelry shops, either. He went with what he knew. Too bad he didn't know too much, outside of how to try and haggle for a better, lower price, and where to look for a bargain. That was because his dad was such a cheapskate. He learned from the master of all cheap.
Sam's dark eyes scanned along the first shop he stopped into, trying to pinpoint the item. The one. The thing that just jumped out and screamed Mikaela to him. It sucked he didn't know whether she liked silver or gold, or maybe white gold. If he knew that, it would help narrow things down a little. He just.. hoped he picked the right thing. But that panic that was starting to rise within him, telling him that he would pick the very wrong thing, was threatening to make him run out of the store screaming like he'd seen a Decepticon. No, he had to find something for Mikaela. He just had to. He could stick an All Spark cube into Megatron's chest, but jewelry shopping for a girl was scarier? It was. It was ten times scarier, but he had to remember the old Witwicky motto..
No sacrifice, no victory.
