He could only give her a forced smile as he knelt there and toyed with some sand. He could feel the vibrations and see colors when the waves themselves rolled in. For a moment he wanted to say something had happened, but he couldn't bring himself to say it. It wasn't an easy feeling for him to accept.
None of them were, so until he was asked about it, he probably would just keep it under wraps. The usual backwards talk was done for now, and his eyes lacked their typical mirth. But he was there, even when he wasn't sure he felt like leaving "home".
"..We didn't really have beaches close to base when I grew up at S.P.D. So I guess I just never thought it would be important to learn."
