Their drinks arrived just in time. He was starting to feel like he was putting his foot in his mouth. He was trying too hard, and that made him say stupid things, and that brought on his embarrassment more than Ori's innuendo did. But he wouldn't leave her stranded, no matter how hot his ears were getting. With their food order taken, he turned his attention back to Ori.
"Okay. So. No backstory." He sipped his coffee, searching for something to talk about, but he didn't know what he was doing. The last time he went to food with anyone, it had been with friends he'd known for years. He almost apologized, but he already knew that she didn't like that.
"One thing, then I'm going to try to chill. I stand by what I said at the club. I'm curious about you, and you don't scare me."
