At this point, Nora was probably far too many drinks in and should have considered making her way back to the pay by the week motel room she had been living in now for almost two months. But something about the man playing pool kept her there, her mind completely immersed in his and he barely realized it. Of course, there had to be some hints, but she was usually rather good at covering up her tracks, making sure she didn't focus on one memory or thought too long and risk bringing it to the forefront of his mind. From what she could gather, he really had somewhat questionable taste ages of potential sexual partners, and that didn't sit well with her.
She was determined to find a reason to fuck with him, but so far, she was coming up empty. Besides some sickening fantasies played out with girls who looked like they were fourteen, but were actually of age, it seemed he was the type to keep his true perversion under wraps. It was a duality between absolutely disgusting and somewhat respectable that he was managing to function so well, without going over the line. And Nora Mendoza did not punish the innocent, no matter how fucked up their brains seemed. But then there was always that nagging question of what if? What if he did go too far one day and she hadn't stopped it.
Sometimes knowing too much, knowing everything, was the absolute worst.
Tossing back her umpteenth shot of cheap whiskey, Nora sucked in a sharp breath, the hair on the back of her neck suddenly rising as she opened herself up to the thoughts of the bar at large and caught one stream of consciousness that unnerved her. One that was focused solely on her, one that knew too much. Or so they thought.
Turning to the bartender she ordered two shots, slipping off her stool with both in hand as she walked towards his table, sitting down across from him and sliding one in his direction, a dark yet curious look on her face.
"So, you want to talk to me then?" she asked, tossing back her own shot and motioning for him to join her. Obviously she was wary, but she didn't fear this man. She knew he was like her, at least in a way. But she was also well aware that didn't necessarily mean he was a friend, or she should let her guard down. Nora was no fool, and while her face was blank her mind was on high alert, ready to pounce.
