For the two years she'd been at the society, Leah had made it a practice to do laps in the pool three times a week. While she'd been on vacation, she'd neglected the routine and was happy to get back to it. Her time since she'd returned had been uneventful, she'd been reading up on the artifact they were searching for, looking over a map of the region and spending time in her room. She'd been trying to make good on her promise to Stephen and mingle more and that was going fairly well. She'd played pool with one of the techs, had a conversation with Tanya in the library which admittedly consisted of teasing her about Stephen but it counted, and generally going out of her way to actually attempt to be friendly. People were worried about her, she knew they had to be.The one person she hadn't encountered though had been Simon. Usually she would run into him in the library or in the kitchen but she hadn't seen him since her return. Maybe he was avoiding her although she couldn't imagine why.
All this was on her mind as she made her way to the pool on Tuesday morning. It was early so there wasn't anyone there yet. There would be a scuba class later on so she wanted to do her laps before they arrived so she wouldn't be in the way. Choosing her spot at the end of the pool, she did a few stretches and then jumped in, relaxing as the warm water surrounded her. Leah loved to swim, it was one of her favorite things to do and it kept her mind occupied. She had done three laps when she felt that someone was watching her. That wasn't entirely unusual but this early in the morning she hadn't expected anyone. When she reached the end of the pool, she popped up and pushed her hair out of her eyes to find none other than Simon standing by the pool. Leah couldn't imagine what he was doing there but she had to admit that he looked good. She'd only ever seen him in a suit and the body underneath was definitely worth looking at. "Good morning," she said, crossing her arms on the lip of the pool and looking up at him. "What brings you out here so early."
