Who: Ginny Weasley and Bella Swan
What: Ginny has been asked to help a friend of a friend…
When: A few months after Ginny's graduation, coinciding with events of New Moon.
Where: Bella's home in Forks.
Rating: PG
Notes: HP/Twilight Crossover. AU as of the start of New Moon.

Ginny had anxiously leapt at the chance to help a friend of Mandy Brocklehurst. There were so many reasons; she would get to see the US, she would get away from the pain and strife of her second break up with Harry Potter, it delayed her decision on what to do about her career and a change of scenery.

Her mum…was less than pleased and she didn't even know the full story. Ginny was diving into something she had no real experience with…vampires. There was also a mix of werewolves in there too and that…complicated things. Though, what she heard the werewolves were…different than ones that she was used to and that seemed like good news.

She had spent weeks with Hermione Granger trying to come up with spells and hexes that would be useful in the event that Bella's possible assailants came after her. It seemed that while some vampires liked Mandy's friend, there were some that wished to do her harm…

Ginny had tried to find a portkey to get her Forks which ended being impossible. She took one that got her near Seattle and then had a car bring her to Forks. It was like England; rainy and cool and dank.

Arriving at the address she had been given, Ginny walked up to the door in her fashionably tight jeans, cardigan and wool P-Coat. Her wand was tucked in her jacket and within easy reach as she lightly knocked at the door.

Bella Swan had been depressed for months, she didn't want to eat or sleep for that matter. When she slept she kept having nightmares and screaming so loud that Charlie had to keep waking up making sure she was okay.

Wearing a pair of sweat pants and a dark purple tank top she sauntered to the door and opened it. She smiled knowing who it was since her friend Mandy had told her about it a few days ago. "Hello. You must be Ginny Weasley, please come in." She said opening the door further for her

"Would you like something to drink or eat? I can whip us up something if you'd like." She said "I hear I'm a pretty good cook." she was nervous meeting this other witch from Mandy's world. She didn't realize there was alot out there and wondered if she could learn how to do it.

Ginny really wasn't sure what to expect when the door opened. Smiling at the other girl, Ginny replied, "I am and thank you. Bella, right?" Stepping through the door, she set down her bag.

"Food would be wonderful," Ginny said appreciatively. "My mum fed me on the way out but lunch would be nice." She moved inside and looked around at the house. It was so…Muggle. It would be hard to get used to.

"Have you spoken to your father about letting me stay over?" Ginny asked. "I brought a tent that I can set up, if not. It's comfortable and…has other good things about it. So, it might not be a bad idea to use that."

"Has there been…anything out of the ordinary lately?" Ginny asked, wondering if Bella's enemies had been creeping about.

"Yes my name is Bella. It's nice to meet you." she said to her as she walked through the kitchen to get the two of them to drink "I'm afraid I don't have alot of drinks.. what would you prefer?" she asked her nicely

"Alright I'll whip us something up in a jiffy." She said to her and smiled grabbing stuff for a salad and then she grabbed the cutting board underneath so she can cut up some lettuce. Then she'd cut up some cucumbers, and tomatoes.

"Yes.. he said that was okay since he's known Mandy for years. I'm afraid you'll haveto sleep on the couch though since we don't have alot of rooms." she said to her "If that's okay if not we have room for your tent outside." she shrugged her arms a little as she started her job

She stopped cutting and stared at the other girl and nodded "Sadly yes.." She said to her "I'm being stalked by a vampire.. now I am just waiting for her to kill me." she said sadly since Edward left her, she had no one to protect her now except her bestfriend Jacob Black.

Ginny shrugged wanting not to appear picky. "Pumpkin juice is fine," she answered, figuring that everyone had pumpkin juice. She didn't remember that Muggles didn't drink pumpkin juice and most reacted to it like it was vile.

"Thanks so much," Ginny replied as Bella set about making dinner.

"That is fine. I might be…a little far to watch out for you when you are sleeping," Ginny said. "I am sure that we can work something out. If I need to, I can sleep on your floor or something."

Ginny nodded slowly. "Well, I have done a lot of research on how to combat them. She won't get you," she assured Bella with that Weasley confidence she shared with her twin brothers.

"I'm glad your dad doesn't think it's too weird that I am here indefinitely," Ginny said with a chuckle. "So, what are you making?"

Moving over to the table, she sat down.

She looked at her questiongly "Pumpkin juice.. what is pumpkin juice exactly?" She asked her "Mandy tried to tell me about it but she never explained it well, then she tried to bring me some back over the holidays." she explained to her "I do have water and coke though?" she asked

"Well if you want you can sleep on my floor as you suggested. I do have an air mattress I think somewhere around the house. I'll check the upstairs closet later on before we go to bed." She said to her and smiled

"No, he doesn't know why you're here though.." She whispered "Sure he believes in what Mandy is but he doesn't exactly know there's a vampire trying to kill me right now so I'd like to keep that between me and you.." she said to her "I am making chicken parmesean.. ever had it before?" she asked her

Ginny blinked. It took her a moment to realize that Muggles didn’t drink pumpkin juice. “Oh…it’s something we have a lot; wizards and witches. It was one of the only really good things to drink when I was at school. It’s basically water with mashed up pumpkin and lots of spices,” she explained. “Oh, Coke would be fab. I never get to have it!” she told her with a smile.

“An air mattress would be pretty comfy, I bet,” she told Bella. She didn’t want to be up in her space but she wanted to protect her. There was going to be a fine line to walk. Unlike her, Bella was an only child and wasn’t used to not having much privacy.

Ginny nodded. “I can work with that. I’ll make sure he doesn’t know.” She pondered. “I think I have. I am sure I will love it. I like lots of different foods.”

“Sorry this is happening with you,” Ginny said softly. “I hope we can help get it taken care of as quick as possible.”

She smiled at Ginny "Well it sounds really good.. I always wanted to try it." She said to her "Though like I said Mandy.. always tried to bring it back for me but for some reason it looses it tastes." she said "Unless that's supposed to happen." she shrugged and walked to the fridge grabbing a coke from the fridge "Here you go." she said to her happily

"Well I am really happy that you're not picky. Most people wouldn't want to sleep on an air mattress at all." she said to her and couldn't believe how pretty she thought Ginny was. She never looked at girls before or had feelings but she really did get feelings for Ginny, or that was in her head.

"Thankyou.. I don't need my father worrying about that." She said to her "It's alright.. really it's just my ex boyfriend's fault. Another vampire was after me last year.. he killed him. We didn't realize that his mate would come back and finish the job.. that her mate started." She shuddered a little bit

“Oh. Yeah…” Ginny thought about it. She had heard something like that before. “I think it might…lose something when it leaves wizarding places.” She shrugged. “Thanks,” Ginny said graciously as she took the Coke and cracked it open.

“The Burrow, that’s what we call my family’s house, it’s really kind of small and there were so many of us,” Ginny explained. “So, an air mattress in someone’s bedroom isn’t that big of a deal.”

She saw Bella…looking at her. She smiled up at her as she considered what Bella might be thinking. Years ago, she would have been shy and bashful but that wasn’t something she did anymore.

Ginny could see why an immortal boy would be intrigued by her. Though, she couldn’t exactly put her finger on a way to describe what made Bella intriguing but there was certainly something.

Her mind wandered to a day in the Gryffindor Locker Room…

“It’s no problem,” Ginny assured her. “We can keep it a secret unless we absolutely have to tell him.”

“She won’t be able to finish the job,” Ginny said with great resolve.

"She felt bad everytime she bought it back and the taste disappeared. So that means I am going to haveto try it somehow.. one way or another. I know I can't visit Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley though." She said to Ginny

"That's a really cute name to call a house. I'd love to see it sometime." She said to her and smiled "Alright good I just didn't want you to be uncomfortable while you're here." She said to her and sighed a little bit

"Good. I don't want him to be in danger like I am." She said to her "That's the last thing I want since my dad means the world to me." She said and sighed sadly "It seems you're determined to not let anything happen to me, I like that." She said to her

Ginny smiled. "You know about Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley? That is fab." She nodded. "I am sure that you will have a chance to see them. It's not unheard of for Muggles to go into those places. One of my best friends, her parents are Muggles, and go in all the time."

"It has its charms but…it is a little cramped. I am a little jealous of people who have space to themselves and…well…space in general, you know?" Ginny mused as she thought about her love/hate relationship with her childhood home.

Ginny's cheeks grew a little pink. "I am glad to help."

"How's dinner coming along?" Ginny asked. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

Bella smiled back at her "Well Mandy whenever she came home from the holidays or just summer vacation she'd tell me about them. She wanted me once to come with her and get her school supplies but I was nervous going. She always trusted me with the choices she made, it was nice." she said to her and sighed a little bit, missing her friend.

"The burrow sounds like a great place to live though. I always had a big house, I'd prefer something small like this." she said gesturing toward her house "It's just.. my parent's have alot of money. My dad is chief of police in this small town so I couldn't really help it there." she added

"If you want to help.. well you could cut up the vegetables?" she asked her nicely "I mean.. I usually save that for last. Cutting boards are underneath the sink." She said smiling at her and blushing again

Ginny nodded and smiled. "I imagine it's a little hard to get used to and that it might be a little overwhelming at first but as long as you are with someone like Mandy, you'd be fine and it would be fun."

"You can experience it at some point," Ginny said with a laugh. "You can meet my brothers and then you will change your mind!"

"Sure." Going to fetch the cutting boards, Ginny set them out and grabbed a few knives. Drawing her wand, she used a charm her mother loved and the knives flew up into the air and moved down to cut the vegetables on their own as Ginny tucked away her wand.

She was showing off a little but it wasn't everyday someone got to show off magic to a Muggle!

It wasn't long before the vegetables were all chopped and the knives landed on the cutting boards and laid still.

She smiled back at her "Yeah I know. She was going to take me there this weekend, but seeing as I am being stalked by a vampire now she didn't think it was a good idea to go alone with her." she sighed "It's cool though.. I think I'll be alright in the long run eventually." she said

"Your brother's sound like they can be really crazy.." she looked at her "Though luckily I got the calm one to come out here." She said and ran fingers through her knotted hair a few times and sighed again.

She smiled again watching Ginny cut all the vegetables by magic "Wow, that's impressive." She said to her "Mandy told me that when you guys were in school you wern't allowed to use magic outside of it. Why's that?" she asked her curiously

Ginny nodded. “It’s a bit of a trek over here,” she explained, just wanting to prepare Bella for it. “And using a Portkey…I’m not even sure you can use one, actually.” Could Muggles use Portkeys? She’d never heard of one using one… “But, you can get there when things calm down. If Mandy can’t show you around, I will.” She smiled at Bella.

Laughing lightly, Ginny shook her head. “They are. But, I am a bit wild myself,” she confessed. “It’s the Weasley blood; makes us all a bit off our nut.” She grinned at the shy girl. It was so cute when she brushed a lock of hair from her face or chewed her lower lip…

“Thanks.” Ginny knew she was being a show off but didn’t let it make her feel guilty. “They do. It’s to prevent a kid from doing something around Muggles. It’s important to hide ourselves away because the world would change drastically if people knew about us. The reason it notifies the ministry is so they can send someone out to fix it with a Memory Charm or something. That changes someone’s memory,” Ginny added after a moment.

She smiled back at her "Really you'd do that? That's nice of you." she said to her and sighed a little "I feel bad though that we had to meet like this though Ginny, you having to be my protector. I hope we can still become friends though." She said to her, even though she wanted more eventually.

"You're wild to.. but you're acting so calm right now. So I am confused on how you can be wild Ginny." She said to her and watched Ginny for a few minutes, she loved the fact that Ginny's hair was red. Red was indeed her favorite color.

"A memory charm.. hmm that sounds creepy though to me. Not that I'd know what how to create one." She said and sighed "Perhaps you can do that to Victoria and she can forget that she knew me,.. that would help." she added

Ginny smiled. Bella had such a disarming and endearing vulnerability to her that she couldn’t help but feel a bit drawn to her. Plus, she was rather cute and had nice hair and a really shy smile… “Of course we can be friends. Let’s try to forget about that other thing when we can. It’ll be better that way. Deal?”

A laugh burst out of her. “I am pretty good at hiding it. It usually only comes out on the Quidditch Pitch and at parties and such. When I am drinking I can be pretty wild or if…I am feeling that way about someone I like. You know?”

“It is, a bit creepy,” she conceded. “We don’t think about it much because it’s usually pretty harmless when it is used but it can be used in very bad ways. Like anything else, I suppose,” she added with a shrug. Stopping to ponder, she wondered if that might work. “We could try it,” Ginny told her, impressed by her way of thinking. “What effects Vampires and how well is a bit of a mystery. So, if we manage to get a drop on her, we can try things and see how they work.”

“How’s dinner coming? I am starved!” she said with a laugh. “It smells great. I think you might be as good of a cook as my mum and that’s really saying something.”
