Daphne’s found Sara’s assertion a little more convincing this time. However, she knew better than to trust it. Sara was just as much a Slytherin as she was. How many times had Daphne lied to manipulate people into doing the things that she wanted them to do? How many times had she manipulated people into giving her what she wanted?
“What do you mean, what?” she asked angrily. What was there to be confused about? “Heidi hit you! Tracey tried to make you out like a deviant; like she is. She tried to tell the entire school slanderous things about you,” Daphne added, hysteria taking hold in her voice. “Weasley is a blood traitor and a total whore. Even Katie Bell was in on all this. She is Macavoy’s best mate!”
Daphne was ready to storm out. She fought back tears. Then, Sara was…holding on to her? “What are you doing?” she asked in confusion. Daphne paused. “Are you…hugging me?”
“Slytherins don’t hug!” Daphne shouted. It wasn’t that it was uncomfortable, it felt nice. It was the subject and feelings and Sara…loved her too? She turned in Sara’s arms.
“You love me?” she asked softly. Daphne’s eyes were wide in a moment of never-seen vulnerability.
