Ginny was stewing angrily behind Katie. She was so mad, and hurt, by Heidi’s words that she really didn’t have much interest in helping her at all. She stayed silent behind her girlfriend as she struggled to keep her temper in check.
“I don’t know. Someone had to do…something,” Katie said, wincing at the thought. What if someone had…violated her under the guise of someone else? The thought made her stomach churn. “You made one suggestion. Let Ginny prove it to you that she remembers seeing it.”
“What if someone did something to Tracey?” Katie suggested. It was terrible too but she needed to offer something that relieved the fear of what might have happened to her.
“Would you agree to that, Ginny?” Katie asked over her shoulder. When she saw her hesitate, Katie added, “Please? For me?” Katie believed Ginny but she needed to find a way for them to get past this.
“If Heidi says she is sorry for what she said,” Ginny said, her voice strained. “Then okay.”
