It was the final day of December and of the year, and Cho Chang and Harriet Potter were staring daggers at each other from across the room. Not only were they bitter rivals...the Gryffindors had beat the Ravenclaw team last year...not only was Harriet friends with that snotty perfectionist, Hermione Granger, who was out to put the entire Ravenclaw house to intellectual shame...but her rival had came to the party and declared out loud that her New Years resolution was to win the Quidditch Cup! It was a slap in the face of every other Quidditch Captain here. Why the Gryffindors had to be as arrogant as the Slytherins sometimes, she had no idea. Maybe Harriet was drunk...already...
Since the party was unofficial and unendorsed by the teaching staff, there was no formal wear in attendance. Cho would have liked to have worn a dress, but that would have been a give away to the teachers that there was a party going on. The Room of Requirement was gaily decked out as a decorated representation of the Great Hall. A large egg big enough to hold a person was slowly moving up a pole in the center of the hall. When it reached the top at midnight...well, she didn't know what would happen. Fireworks, she assumed.
Dressed in her school uniform, her Head Girl pin was affixed to her jumper. Most everyone had left their robes in a heap at the door, since it was so warm in here. The Cheerleading Squad seemed to all be dressed in their cheerleading uniforms...as usual. How they got away with wearing them constantly around the school, she had no idea. Her mind on Quidditch, she took a glass of punch offered to her by a smiling Luna wearing a Panda mask without paying much attention. Ravenclaw had won the game against Hufflepuff in November, and would be facing Gryffindor in January...their next game. She planned on crushing Harriet Potter's team. Taking a sip of her punch, she jumped, startled, as she saw something wriggling at the bottom of her glass. It was a worm...but to her relief, just a gummy worm. Luna must have charmed it to move...she was going to skip eating it.
