Lavender felt Fleur’s stern glare long before her words came to her lips. She stood with her arms in front of her, shielding her from Fleur’s wrath. Though, she didn’t feel like Fleur was really all that angry.
“Sorry,” she muttered in a child-like tone. It was times like this she acutely aware of their age difference. “I just…didn’t want people to be suspicious.” Now she felt bad because it was clear that Fleur was disappointed in her.
She acted up in other people’s classes, Lavender was known for it, why did it make her feel bad now? The answer to that question was obvious…
“I’m sorry,” she repeated, looking up at Fleur through her eyelashes.
“I need to talk to you about…something important,” Lavender told her. She took a deep breath. “You said I will always be your mate, right?” Saying it out loud made her smile brightly. “Do you still want me like that?”
Her heart was hammering as she waited for Fleur to respond.
