He couldn't make sense of anything. He'd been on a plane to Paris, not Hawaii. Off to start a new life, as far from Beacon Hills and it's memories as he could get. His wife was dead, his daughter was beside her in the grave. There was nothing left for him in California. Hell, he didn't even have the code he'd been raised to uphold his entire life. He had nothing. No reason to stay. So he'd fled, like a coward with his tail between his legs.
Somehow he'd ended up in Hawaii. He didn't even remember getting off the plane. He'd just suddenly become aware that he was on the ground. His phone had connected to some kind of a network, and he'd talked to someone, or something, pretending to be Allison. But it wasn't Allison, couldn't possibly be Allison. Allison was dead, run through with a sword, and laid to rest beside her mother.
Whatever this was, he was going to get to the bottom of it. He was going to expose the fraud for what it was. And if necessary, kill whoever was cruel enough to play such a sick joke on a grieving father. He was acutely aware the meet-me-on-the-beach line could be a scam, an attempt at ambush, but he was going to be protected. He had his guns, and he wasn't afraid to use them. Plus the beach was a pretty open area, with not much in the way of cover.
He made his way toward the water, toward this ill advised meeting. He fully expected an ambush, but the only movement he detected was from the water, casually and steadily lapping against the shore. And when he saw her, his heart quite literally skipped a beat, even as he told himself to stay on point. There was no way Allison was alive. It just wasn't possible.
