"Me? Have an ego?" he asked, feigning surprise as he moved to pull some dishes down out of the cupboard before moving them to the table. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Hermione." A small smile continued to tug at the corner of his lips even as he said it. He could admit to having an ego, but he'd argue that it was really all that big. He tried to only let it out when he needed something accomplished and didn't have the time to sit and wait for someone else to come to the same conclusions.
Turning his thoughts elsewhere, he did hope that the lasagna tasted just as great as it smelled. It might be embarrassing to foul up two dinners with the same person. It was a good thing Hermione already had an impression of him and he wasn't going on first impressions otherwise he'd be up the creek without a paddle for certain.
He snorted when she responded with "maybe". There was no maybe about it. "Why don't you just make yourself a note?" he asked, digging out some cutlery and adding that to the table as well. "Or better yet, make one of those lists your so fond of. You can just follow that back down to the most recent step."
