He chuckled as she gave him a bear hug, despite him being much larger than her, and rubbed her arms a little in response. Though Luna was a girl, Neville never seemed to get quite as flustered as he did around other females, and never felt awkward hugging the younger girl despite the close proximity. He rather enjoyed it, not really having the opportunity to be so close to girls. Not that that was the reason he liked hugging Luna, because of her lady parts or anything... Actually, now he was thinking about it, maybe it was making him feel a little hot and embarrassed, and he was glad she couldn't read his mind or anything. Though, he thought with a quick glance at Luna's face, if anyone could have telepathy, it'd be Luna Lovegood.
As Luna peeled off her outer layers, Neville realised he was still wearing his coat and gloves, and shrugged them off onto one of the other chairs around the table before sitting down.
"Oh, I'm sure the dwarves will come back. You know, I think I have a book on garden pests somewhere. There'll be a section on gnomes, a list of what not to do to attract them. You could have a look and get some ideas on how to lure them back if you want?" Neville didn't really like gnomes; they bit hard and wreaked havoc on a tidy garden, but he knew Luna probably saw some good in them. "They love worms actually."
Nodding in agreement, Neville finished off his biscuit and picked out another. "Spring's my favourite season. All that new growth, it's all nice and fresh." A garden transformed so much from winter to spring, awakening from the coma of winter, bare branches budding and coming into leaf, flowers poking through the once bare soil, green where there was only brown and black before.
