His finger gently hooked around hers, enjoying the touch more than he should've. They were soft, silky. Perfect. Everything about her was wonderful. Clint couldn't really resist. Not Penny. She was hard to be around because there were moments, like this, that he wanted more than was physically possible. Even this? This wasn't good. Being seen together in public would potentially ruin her and touching? That was most definitely taboo.
Before he could help himself, his hand reached back and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Most certainly," he murmured, not really thinking the ice cream was delicious but her soft, red lips. He could kiss her. He could kiss her right now and the fact that he was hesitating was new. He didn't normally care for others and their well-being. She was different. She didn't judge him. She let him be himself.
"One day," he murmured, leaning closer, "We'll have breakfast together and I'll be certain to show you my experience and let you work on your research."
