She smiled at the pout in Lucas' tone. "Oh, I'm pretty sure she likes everything that's edible ... and a few things that aren't." Bella, while being incredibly smart and helpful, was still a dog. If she was allowed to chew on it, she was going to. There was just no stopping her. Evy had long ago stopped trying.
She turned to smile in Mile's direction, offering a light laugh and a shrug. "If it makes it any better, it's only my own animal I'm feeding pancakes too. Besides, I don't need to see her to know she's giving me those puppy eyes. I can't help it!" And that was the truth. She always knew when Evy wanted something, as her head would end up resting on Evy's thigh and she could feel the dogs eyes on her. It didn't take much to imagine them looking all sad and pitiful.
Ignoring her girlish qualities, her attention shifted back to Lucas as he started to describe his time at the winter festival. Resting her elbow on the table, she rested her chin on her hand, hiding the smile that bloomed across her features at his imitation of Miles.
"Oh, I'm sure you didn't whine, Miles." She responded, her amusement clear in her tone as she held her hand out of Lucas' hand and giving his smaller hand an affectionate squeeze when he placed it in hers.
