The last thing he was worried about was Pizza, so when she mentioned it, he chuckled despite himself. "It's better cold, anyway," he commented, his hand moving to rub her arm, an unconscious action to warm her further. He wasn't bothered by the fact that she moved closer or that his presence was needed simply to block out the thoughts of a very different, and definitely darker presence. He was quite comfortable filling that role and it came quite naturally.
"Love you, too," he returned, easily. They'd known each other forever. Those words were far easier to say than they would have been to anyone else save his immediate family. He didn't stumble over them or blush awkwardly. It was a simple statement of fact. She was a close friend and meant a lot to him. That too was natural.
If sleep was what was in store for them, than so be it. He had the fortunate pleasure of being one of those individuals that could sleep anywhere. Sitting up on the couch with Penny curled up against him. Not a problem.
