The war and it's consequences were not easily forgotten, particularly for those who had faced the superiority of the few and were found wanting on some ridiculous scale. It still angered him to think about it. Stealing magic? It was as ridiculous as the claims that Muggles and Muggleborns had no place in the Wizarding world. It was as ridiculous as the entire base on which Voldemort had built his power trip. Oliver had been one of the lucky ones. He hadn't been hunted by snatchers. He hadn't been stuck at Hogwarts with the Carrows. He'd played Quidditch for as long as he could before he too, faded back into the woodwork.
There was a certain level of guilt that still clung to him when it came to Penny. He should have been around more and perhaps she wouldn't have ended up in Azkaban. He'd been to absorbed in his own life and when he realized his mistake it was too late. It was part of the reason he was rather protective of her now. A part of it was making up for his past error, even if it was just in small ways like keeping her company. The other part of him, however, considered her one of his best friends.
With no practice or games the following morning, Oliver had already been lounging in his pajamas by the time he'd seen Penny's entry in the journals. After only a few brief comments, Ollie had closed his own journal and shrugged into his jacket. He had one stop to make briefly before he arrived outside Penny's door. Knowing that she was aware of his pending arrival, Oliver let himself in. Kicking his shoes off at the door and shuffling around the items he held, he shrugged out of his jacket.
When he finally located her, he offered her what can only be described as a typical Ollie smile and presented his offerings of hot pizza and chocolate milk, all the while dressed in teenage mutant ninja turtle sleep ware. Yep. Definitely Oliver Wood approved.
