Had it not been for Harry previous experience with all things Voldemort, he was fairly certain he never would have lasted as a Ministry employee. This wasn't because he couldn't follow the rules. Nor was it because he had a difficult time of living up to the expectations of a Ministry Employee. It did, however, have everything to do with the neatness of his appearance. It started off well, most days, he was very much put together when he arrived most mornings. Give him an hour or two, of course, and he'd be a mess. So, while most of the other Ministry officials were moving about in their orderly Ministry robes, Harry was not. Such a common occurance this was that not a soul looked twice.
The outer robe he'd thrown on over his Muggle clothing had been draped haphazardly over the back of his chair, his hair had been further disheveled by a frustrated hand moving through it earlier that morning, and his tie had hung loosely around his neck due to unintentionally fiddling as he'd been going over case files. Having needed a signature from the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts office on a recent stint with an electrifying waffle iron, Harry was forced away from his desk and out into the throng of other Ministry officials.
Wandering through the building, idly flipping through the pages of the report in question, he had no intention of running into anyone. The only thing he'd been planning to do was get the bloody paperwork signed properly so he could move on to the next bunch of equally boring case files. He most certainly hadn't been expecting to find a horribly tall and gangly figure standing directly in his path. "Out on good behaviour, Malfoy?"
