Love is Blind
He heard the whirr of the camera shutter from across the courtroom and smiled to himself for just a moment as the jury filed back in. This was a high profile case, his client had been accused of the murder of a government official but between Spider-man and Daredevil they’d found enough evidence to prove Jennifer Noble innocent of all charges.
Contrary to what the Daily Bugle and other newspapers led the public to believe, there was not a costumed vigilante on the top of every skyscraper in Manhattan.
But it turned out Jennifer was a friend of a friend to the Wallcrawler and his friend, Ben Urich. Daredevil owed Ben a favor or two as well, which was why he’d taken an interest in her case to begin with. But Matt wondered how much Spider-man really knew about his abilities.
Spider-man was highly intelligent, both book smart and city smart, but would he have come into the courtroom if he knew that Matt could smell his cologne and hear the same distinct beat of his heart that was just slightly faster than a normal humans?
It had been more than fun to bust some heads with someone else for a change. Especially someone with such a quirky sense of humor. And while he couldn’t really see the other man, from what he could tell the other man was quite lithe and muscular.
In fact the past few nights were the first time in a long time Matt longed for his sight. Not so much so he could get a clue to the other’s identity, no he longed to see how the muscles might play in his back as he fought, or to watch his graceful acrobatics across the rooftops.
Matt knew he was in trouble, he only longed for his sight when he was interested in someone else.
Time for that later. Right now he had a client to exonerate.
By the end of the day Jennifer was free. As he was leaving a familiar scent reached him, and once again Matt wished he could see the smirk that was undoubtedly on his companions face.
“Good thing Daredevil caught the guys who had planted the gun in Jenn’s car.”
“The way I hear it Spider-man had a lot to do with it. Name’s Matt Murdock by the way.”
“Peter Parker.” And Matt could hear the smile on his friend’s face. “They make a good team I think.”
“That they do Mr. Parker, perhaps they should work together more often?”
A low chuckle reached his ears. “Good idea. I doubt if the Man Without Fear has arachnophobia issues. And it’s Peter by the way. Come on, I’ll buy you a drink to celebrate winning your trial. I know this nice out of the way coffee shop that’s nice and quiet.”
Matt smiled and found himself walking beside the younger man. “That sounds more than good Peter, and I can bet Daredevil is looking forward to seeing Spider-man again later on tonight as well.”
