That was something she hadn't thought ahead to, and she laughed faintly. Right. Even if this was legit, what was to stop the assholes from taking them back? "Almost makes you wonder ... why bother, right?"
She reached out and tugged lightly at the collar of his shirt as she gazed at him.
"But if we pretend this is legit and think positive ... it'll be nice to get home, right?" Something dark and sad flickered through her eyes, but she wouldn't ask and she didn't think it would occur to him to invite her. His ship, his life, his crew. Where did she fit there? She didn't. She knew from Kaylee and Simon that he didn't exactly smile on shipboard romances, so why would he violate that for himself?
