Balthazar sat down on the edge of the bed next to Lily, reaching out to take one of her hands in his own. He inhaled deeply before shaking his head with a light smile.
"It'd be nice. I don't exactly disbelieve it, but at the same time, until it actually happens ... well, I'd rather be pleasantly surprised to get home than crushed that this was just another trick up their sleeve." While this did seem to be rather elaborate, they had already proved that they would go to great lengths to hurt everyone.
"What do you think?" He returned the question as he stroked his thumb against the back of her hand, considering the options of 'home' they'd been given, about being sent into worlds other than their own. He wondered how many people would take that option, if things would change because of it.
If he abandoned his own world, would Veronica be stuck forever? He didn't think so. If no one noticed missing people, it seemed somehow he was still 'home' and the world was progressing as it should.
