Movie Night: Rosewood Wednesday, February 20 at 7 pm Film screening followed by discussion with area psychologists. Altamont University It’s been 10 years since John Singleton released Rosewood, a film based upon the 1923 massacre of a black community in north Florida. Rosewood was an unusual town, populated and governed by African-Americans who owned their own land and businesses, which they financed by the profitable tree farms and milling industry that once filled that area of the state. Its citizens and buildings literally disappeared after a horrific incident surrounding the purported rape of a white woman by a black man. The truth resurfaced in the 1980s, when several of the remaining survivors and their families sought restitution from the state of Florida. This week, Rosewood will be screened as part of Altamont University's Black History Month celebration, with psychologists on hand to lead the after-film discussion. Those still unfamiliar with this not-so-long-ago chapter in Florida’s racist history will be shocked at the atrocities that were buried by the white mainstream. Even free popcorn and drinks won’t make this story go down easy. For more digestible fare, don’t miss the Feb. 28 Soul Food Festival, also organized by the college’s African-American Cultural Society.

These people MUST STATE in their applications which student storyline they'd be a part of. The only way for you to get a character to come in for your sl is to RECOMMEND a s.l by commenting the Taken or Wanted list for in Dean Martin's journal. Once someone picks up your s.l., you'll be pmed by that person and it is up to YOU to approve of this person. Once you've approved, the character will be added to AO and then it is up to you and them to get friended by people.
-If you'd like to friend a member of either Altamont schools outside of your own school, you MUST friend them on your own. I.E.
