It had taken River a while to figure it out. Once she did, she couldn't un-think it, much as she wanted to.
The Doctor had nothing to do with her being here.
It was several little things. Following her encounter with Bill Door, River had waited hours for the Doctor to arrive, only to be left disappointed. Then she started to piece together what she actually knew. She finally figured out that the arrival of certain of her possessions made little sense in her original theory. Then there was Bill's story, remarkably like her own. Answers were needed, and she was going to get them.
A little halluconogenic lipstick gifted to an employee of the resort gave her an opportunity to access their computer files. She had been expected, she discovered, before she ever arrived. The next search was for any information on the actual location of this island, or who the owners were. She found out that a mysterious management group was behind it all, but that was it. No specifics on who the management were. No latitude or longitude, no neighboring continents, not even an inkling to what planet it was on.
It was time to go shopping.
River intended to fully equip herself with anything she felt necessary (beginning with commandeering a weapon and a mode of transportation), and then find an appropriate spot to send the Doctor a physical message. She had already tried sending him a psychic message, but enough time had passed since doing so that she was sure something had interfered. River was just going to have to rely on time itself to contact him.
She had gone back up to the room that was apparently hers for the time being to retrieve all the pamphlets on the island. That accomplished, she headed back out the door, flipping through them for obvious landmarks. She was so engrossed in reading as she walked, she almost bumped into someone stepping out of another room.
Drawing up sharp, she looked him up and down. Well, this was certainly new.
"A sword and a bow? I hope she's worth the effort."
