The Robin Hood she knew of was supposed to be a fictional character. So was Arthur, for that matter, and the actual truth of that had been easily enough discovered. Time travel, archeological research, and the Doctor's stories answered so much about long lost history.
Which made it entirely possible Robin Hood was real. But was this man actually THE Robin Hood? Rob from the rich, give to the poor, Robin Hood?
