His hand moved swiftly to the hilt of his sword at his waist at the words, turning swiftly in the direction the voice had come from. Not an immediate threat, he could swiftly assess, but looking at the woman, he could not right away rule out the possibility of danger. He had made that mistake before, and nearly paid for it with his life. The Sheriff's sister had, in fact, not looked too unlike the woman that stood in front of him now.
His eyebrows rose at what she'd said, expression questioning. Worth it, however, was putting it lightly as far as Marian was concerned. And Marian would be the only 'she' for him. Not knowing where she was, or if she might be facing a similar predicament, was high on his current list of worries.
He looked past the woman, further down the hallway, and then again in the other direction, making sure she was alone. You couldn't dismiss the possibility of ambush too quickly.
"And what might you suggest, as an alternative?" His accent was in stark contrast to the woman's, and instead of assisting him in getting answers, it instead added to his list of questions. He could see no weapons on her person, which suggested she did not consider her surroundings a threat. That, or she was naive to them. Either did not necessarily bode well for him.
