"Unless he's a member of the mysterious 'management' running this place, I don't think so."
Amelia was impressed with the younger woman. She seemed to be taking it in stride, using her brains to sort through things rather than succumbing to fainting, or worse. Obviously of fine breeding and yet of intelligent stock. The two did not necessarily go hand in hand, in her experience.
"I have tried but have been unable to ascertain the location of this island. However, I do not believe it is near any of the locations you are describing." Locations Amelia had never heard of. Somehow, that did not surprise her.
There was one word that stuck out as the woman spoke of those other places. "Ankh". Amelia's Egyptological mind found that very interesting, though probably of little use. Old words were often reused.
"I am Mrs. Emerson. Mrs. Amelia Emerson. There is much I could tell you, and much more I cannot. Would you care to get a cup of tea, or coffee if that is your preference, and I can tell you what I know?"
Standing in the sand like common vagabonds was no way to have a serious conversation. Not to mention that once the lady started to find out what Amelia knew, it might be better if she took it sitting down. And she truly hoped the lady liked tea. Coffee was so vulgar.
