"Ha. I suppose you're right. I shouldn't. It's been a while since we managed to see each other without shouting at one another though," he pointed out a little glumly. Alex came closer and he looked up at her as she spoke, finding her proximity overwhelming. He watched her closely, her words only barely registering. He didn't like that she was towering over for him, so he stood up, albeit a little unsteadily. She had been standing so close in the first place that now they were practically nose-to-nose.
"Clever and whatever?" he echoed, sounding faintly amused. "That's me alright." He looked down at the scattered clothing on the ground and wished that he wasn't so clever, because something was telling him that there was a little more to the story that Alex was saying. "Mmmm, yeah. You're a slob. I forgot." He gave a little smile and gazed at her again, something in his expression rather resigned.
