Freddie apparated several hundred yards away from the Potters', the closest spot which he'd been able to manage. Wards hung thick in the air around the house, tangible in their strength. After an initial moment of resistance, they seemed to recognise him, and Freddie slipped through them easily and entered the Potters' without knocking. He has hoped his mum and dad wouldn already be here, but they had been spending much longer than usual locking up the shop at night to prevent intrusion and it seemed they hadn't finished up yet.
"'ello everyone. Lovely to be back, even if it's all gone a bit mental all of a sudden." Fred dropped into an empty seat and began pulling tiny objects from his pockets. He tapped each with his wand in turn and they enlarged into a variety of objects which he'd acquired on his travels. He doled out Belgian chocolates in all kinds of impossible flavours to his aunts ("Women still like chocolate? Well, all's not lost quite yet then," he grinned.) For Harry and Ron he'd garnered a couple of sneakoscopes: "apparently these are good quality. They'll also flash for concealed weapons. 'Course I thought they'd be purely novelty, but it seems we might be needing them," Freddie said darkly. "And where's James?"
