Seeing Lucy bouncing a bit on her bed, Caroline smiled. She looked rather cute… That thought colored her cheeks. “My mum,” Caroline began, gesturing to the afghan. “I get cold at night so she knitted it for me first year.” Caroline remembered writing home talking about how cold the dungeon could be.
“Oh, thank you,” Caroline replied graciously. “Have you heard their latest album?”
Moving to her trunk, Caroline wasn’t sure how to answer the question. One way would make them all sound like a bunch of slags. The other… Well, it would make all the others sound like slags and make Caroline sound like a wet blanket.
Maybe the truth was the best option instead of trying to be coy? “My roommates have a cousin at school and they like to spend time with her. So, they sleep over quite a bit.” She turned to look over her shoulder. “As for the rest…well, house secret…” Caroline tried to sound mysterious and cool; having no idea if she’d actually managed to or not.
Taking out a nightie, she stepped behind a dressing blind to change into it. When she emerged, she was dressed in a nightgown with a high neck and long sleeves that one might have seen a woman dress in for bed in the Vicotrian age. The nightgown was made of white flannel with black stripes.
Moving to the bed quickly, she wanted the curtains drawn just in case one of her roommates came back. Getting in, she drew the curtain and cast a weak privacy charm. A small flame then appeared from the tip of her wand so she could light the large candle that rested atop the headboard.
Settling in, she wasn’t really sure what to say. “Thanks for…coming. I hope this is better than the Great Hall.”
