Characters: Lily, Albus, and James Potter When/Where: November 6th / St. Mungo's Rating: PG Summary: The Potter children check on their Mum
Lily hadn't spoken much to anyone since she recieved the letter from Professor McGonagall. She had folded it delicately and put it away, and without much word to anyone else, retired to the safety of her empty dorm. Lily wandered around there for a while, listless slightly uneasy. A gentle, nudding thought made her want to change, but as she sat down on her bed and began untying her shoes, she stopped. It was almost as if she didn't have the energy, and rather than retying, she simply stood up and slowly made her way to McGonagall's office. She didn't even say much to Albus when he joined her and she only coughed quietly after arriving at St. Mungo's. Of course they were ushered to their mother's room with much ado and gentle curiosity, but Lily looked lost and when they finally arrived at Ginny's room Lily leaned against the wall rather than entering.
She gently slid down the wall and her bottom thumped against the ground. Her legs were sprawled before her and a nurse nearly tripped over them, but Lily was lost to it. Her behavior was odd; she frankly had never acted this way before. Then again, nothing like this had ever happened before. Lily was not worried about her mother's health, nor about her recovery, and she really felt rather odd coming to visit when she felt so securely that Ginny would be absolutely fine. What had struck her was the proximity of all this. The realization that something of that nature could affect her shook Lily to her core. It was horrific; she felt paranoid, unsafe in her own skin. Especially in her own skin. She wasn't Harry, she wasn't ready to give herself up for a cause.
The color had drained from Lily's skin and when she finally found the courage to go check on her mother, she felt almost as if she couldn't stand up. Her fear was penetrating and it made sick to her stomach. She felt as exposed as a known muggleborn.
