The man who killed muggle Joshua Moonbeam (who's eldest daughter is a witch), turned himself in today. He arrived at the Ministry very early in the morning, apparently haggard and distraught. He ran into the Atrium of the Ministry and begged for someone to arrest him. Aurors immediately took him into custody.
The suspect is Arturo Dimitrov, son of Bulgaria's national team's Chaser, Sergei Dimitrov -- . He moved to England after he left Durmstrang and married a muggleborn witch several years later. Arturo's father has said on many occasions that he has disowned his son for not following in his footsteps in becoming a star Quidditch player, marrying a Pure Bulgarian woman, and staying in his home nation. Arturo is thirty-seven, having just celebrated that year not too long ago. Arturo and his wife, Shelley, have an newborn son.
Joshua Moonbeam, who is the corporate manager of some Muggle business, was fourty-two and had a muggle wife, Penelope, and two daughters; January and Celes. Their eldest, January, is a witch and is in her seventh year at Hogwarts and is a friend of some of the Weasley and Potter children, it also rumoured that she is even seeing the eldest Potter boy, though we were not able to get anyone to confirm this.
Upon his arrest, Arturo pleaded guilty to the abducting, questioning, and, finally, murder of Joshua Moonbeam. He claims that a man in all black came up to him one evening while he was buying Dragon Toenails in Knockturn Alley and told him he needed information on the Potter-Weasley family and then handed him a list of people who might be have this information. If Arturo did not have this done within a week, the black robed man would kill his infant son and wife. Arturo claims he avoided the job for several days, stricken with worry and fear. He eventually decided to at least attempt his mission, perhaps it'd go well and he could go back to his normal life.
Our next spout of information comes from a highly secret source -- Readers, you will be the first to know this, for we have the details on what it is that exactly happened between Dimitrov and Moonbeam. This information has yet to be released by the Ministry, but the assistant to the Minister has given us permission to post this.
When Arturo decided that he would attempt to question some of the people on his list, he went for what he would call the easiest. A Muggle man who had a witch for a daughter. Arturo says, "Finding Moonbeam was easy. They told me where he worked and gave me a picture, and I just hovered around until I found him and then I followed him."
So Arturo Dimitrov followed Joshua Moonbeam to a nearby shopping center, where Joshua was going to be doing some early Christmas shopping for his two daughters. Arturo approached Joshua and took him into a nearby alleyway, where he began asking about the living locations of the Potter-Weasley family. Joshua claimed to know nothing and pleaded for Arturo to let him go. Arturo, desperate for his wife and son's safety pressed on further. He demanded information from Joshua.
Joshua claimed to have only been to the house of Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger a few times, saying it was very confusing and there were a lot of spells involved to let them in. Arturo knew this meant the house was most likely unplottable and had a Secret Keeper and Joshua wouldn't be able to give him much. Arturo says he then began questioning about the general location of the house and used the Cruciatus Curse on Joshua until he gave him the information. Arturo spent the entire night getting as much out of the poor man as he could, so that he could relay it to the man. Arturo was to send the information by Owl to an anonymous location (Aurors on their way to this location right now).
Arturo swears he was going to let Joshua go, but hearing him threaten to tell the Police... Arturo knew that killing him was the only way to keep his identity a secret. Unfortunately, the guilt was too much for him to handle.
The official trial for Arturo Dimitrov is on Friday, the 28th of this month.
