Fergus really wasn't in the mood for The Banging Bash Eatery. He loved Seamus, and thought a lot of his cousin for starting his own business. But this particular evening, he wanted to sit and observe people. Sip a beer. Maybe eat a plate of freshly-fried chips. Also, he knew all the girls who spent their Fridays at the Eatery. He needed a change of scenery. The Golden Lion provided that. Also, their fish and chips were ace.
He was chatting with the bartender, only a few sips into his first beer, when his eye caught movement to his right. A woman; he could tell by the fact that she didn't reek of whatever some blokes thought they had to drown themselves in to impress ladies. Also, he looked at her. The shape of her was definitely woman. Her hair was long and wavy. In short, she was cute.
Fergus waited until she looked in his direction, then grinned and lifted his beer to her in silent salute. To the ones brave enough to be out alone on a Friday night.
