Lorcan looked a bit mystified by the strength of the negative reaction -- flying kites wasn't that bad? But if that's the way the lion felt...
"Okay," he said. And, politely, "Good luck with your practicing?"
He hesitated for a moment, then gave the lion a polite nod of leave-taking and turned and walked back toward the rest of the people flying kites. One them called him over to watch a particularly spectacular kite, which he did appreciatively for a moment, then, apparently in response to a question, he turned and looked back in the direction he'd come, as did the person he was standing next to. He said something, some explanation perhaps, his posture expressing puzzlement, and then shrugged and turned back to watching the spectacular kite.
