Re: Open
Another surprise. Well, there was no reason not to help the strange woman, especially if it would keep her from getting bowled over again in the darkness. Though how she had failed to notice the woman, she couldn't imagine. With her light colouring and clothing, she showed up far better in the gloom than did dark-haired, dark-attired Roxanne.
The greater surprise was the way the other woman was talking. But even that shouldn't be a shock - her clothing, demeanour, the way she was steadfastly polite in a situation that Roxanne could hearing more than a few people swearing over - it painted a picture of either a rich woman (possibly a rich man's wife, or the daughter of a rich family) or someone who wanted to appear as one. In both cases, she would want to be taken care of. Impressing Roxanne with her vulnerability was just a way to get her help.
Roxanne was happy to help, though she wondered a little about what type of person would want to have others work for them when they could easily do something themselves. She had always wanted to be in charge and responsible for herself, dependent on no one - to her near destruction. Even now, it was a difficult habit to break and mindset to change.
But perhaps she simply didn't have a wand with her. Roxanne had nearly left hers behind - maybe this woman's wand clashed with the blue of her dress.
"All right," she said, raising her wand a bit higher and turning to determine which direction they should head. It would be very convenient if lumos could extend further than a few feet in all directions. "Watch your step," she added. "I think I heard someone drop a goblet when the lights went out."
