Aidan didn't usually attend parties that had anything to do with politics. It wasn't that he didn't care about politics or that he viewed those types of parties in a negative light. On the contrary he cared a lot about politics because he knew that it affected everyone and everything including his job as an actor. He picked his battles when it came to attending such parties because he knew those types of parties usually had a lot of press and there were times he didn't want to be bothered by the press. It was something that happened frequently due to his career choice. He decided to attend this party because he was very happy about Andromeda Tonks' re-appointment as Minister of Magic.
He felt that she did a really good job running things. Things seemed to be running more smoothly within the Ministry, but then again he couldn't tell for sure since he didn't work for the Ministry. He liked her. He thought she was competent and charismatic. He believed that she had brought a lot of change with her appointment for this reason he made the exception and attended this party. He saw a few people he recognized among the crowd of well wishers. He greeted a few of them and struck up a conversation about how well things were going for everyone. A few people complimented him for his work on Quidditch Wives and though he liked the compliments all he could say was, "Thank you, I try."
This was an odd response since he wasn't usually that humble. He was usually more chipper and arrogant about his acting abilities, especially since he had been working very hard at perfecting them recently. Suddenly his cell phone rang. It was his sister Dana. He excused himself from his associates for a moment so he could speak to her. He felt it was rude to carry on a conversation right in front of them. "Hey Dana. I'm kind of busy right now. Could I call you back?" he asked her. After a few moments of listening to Dana speak Aidan's eyes widened and he found himself saying, "Rayna's what?" Dana repeated what she told him and before Aidan could reply the lights went out. His cell phone also died on him. "Hello? Dana? Are you still there?" he found himself asking before realizing his cell phone wasn't working.
He pocketed his cell phone upon realizing it wasn't working. There was no point in continuing to talk to himself. "Is anyone's cell phone working? I have to make an emergency phone call," he said to some of the shadows nearby which he assumed were people since people were standing there before the lights had gone out. Nobody answered his question. Most likely because they couldn't hear him over everyone else. It was obvious from the chatter that people were as confused as he was about this blackout. He wasn't going to stick around to find out what was happening, not when his sister had just told him some serious news about their sister. He apparated to Bulgaria to talk to his sisters in person.
