Ben blinked, and after a moment wondering just what he was supposed to do with a crying little girl, sprang into action. "I got this," he assured the women--with truly ridiculous shoes actually--and then knelt beside Cherry.
"Hey, it's all right. Uncle Ben is here now," he said, and pulled her into his arms. She was tiny, even for nine, which was good because sometimes he swore that there were some nine year olds who were taller than him. And now wasn't the time to think of that.
"Come on, let's get you some chocolate." Chocolate never failed to work with Sweetings, and he still kept a stash in his desk. Just in case. He picked her up and headed to his cubicle, ignoring the stares of the other Aurors. "Does anyone know you're here?" He didn't wait for an answer, instead he sent Jubilee an owl and cursed the fact that she probably wouldn't have answered a text even if he could find his phone. Owls were just too slow sometimes.
