"I like honesty in my dinner guests, it sweetens the flavour of anything," Ken grinned as he took the cake and placed it on the sideboard for after dinner.
His eyebrows rose slightly at the comment about his taste in decor, but she was obviously being sincere and not teasing about the maps. "I think you're the first woman who's ever complimented me on my flat - it's a bit of a bachelor pad and I haven't done a lot with it, up until my accident I was out of the country a lot," he chuckled and shook his head, thinking Rose was turning out to be even more interesting than he'd first anticipated. This was a good thing, he hated being bored and pretending to play nice. He wasn't entirely sure if he was happy with 'sweet', but hey, she was calling him handsome in the same breath so he wasn't going to complain.
"And there isn't a girlfriend, so don't worry about one leaping out with hysterical accusations," Ken flashed her another grin and then picked up the wine he'd selected. "Dinner is just about ready, care for a drink while you wait?" he glanced at the label. "I've been reliably informed this is a decent white."
