Corrie nodded vaguely, a far-away look on her face as she ate, then swallowed and added, "Yeah, and most of the really bad stuff started there anyway, so they're totally swamped. Dad's almost never home, Mum complains about it all the the time." So maybe it was a good thing she hadn't waited to have him fix her up anyway. There was no guarantee he'd even have been there, it might've been a wasted trip.
She took a drink of water to help wash down a particularly salty handful of chips, and leaned against the wall (wall-fish flocking to her head like a bizarre and colorful halo) to finish off her food.
