When she gave him the threat, his brows wiggled. "You can pull as hard as you like." He told her but soon was moving his body so her hands could attack his pants. "Not close but very nice." He teased as she continued diving through his pockets but alas, she found the box and as her eyes widened, his did too in mock surprise. Albus remained cool, which was amazing giving how nerve wracking he had made himself over the entire situation. "I guess you best open it and find out then." He answered softly, watching as she opened the box to reveal a ring inside.
Her reaction was enough to put a smile on his face, but not one of those boastful ones. More like a soft, contemplative one. His eyes were acting like a video recorder, already burning the moment into memory. She asked what it was, "Looks like a fruit snack to me." He answered in a jokingly manner but his throat was cleared and Al pushed himself up in a sitting position to rest beside her. His hand came out, indicating for the box and when she laid it in his hand, he turned to look at the ring.
Now that feeling crept up inside of him. That sick feeling. But it wasn't dread. It was a good feeling, it was good to be nervous. It was good to know that she had the ability to make him sweat and feel like that. It may not have been the best of feelings but he knew from feeling it that he was alive and it wasn't boring between them, even if they had rather boring and pointless moments shared between them but in fact they were not a bore. He'd rather feel nervous than nothing at all. In fact he wanted to feel nervous because that feeling was what kept him on edge to do the right things.
Now they still fought, fought over petty things actually. He did things she didn't approve of, mainly because she didn't approve. But he also did do right in taking his responsibility and doing what he could to support her. He wanted to see her happy, regardless of his tendency to be an asshole. That tendency may never in his life go away, he may always do something to screw up and get that death look from her but he also knew that she was one of the only people he would unquestionably lay his life down for.
His tongue came out and wet his lips that suddenly became dry and he felt a bit parched, but it was mainly nerves. "I um... I didn't know a right time to bring it up. Dad told me that my next decision had to be thought out carefully, obviously we had a responsibility together but we didn't have to trap one another in being together and you shouldn't feel anything I did was because of us not being careful or lack thereof magic and I took that into consideration. I'm still getting used to the idea of being a dad and I know I'm not always the most responsible and I know I have a lot of issues and lately I haven't been exactly what you need and it's no excuse but admittedly, it just doesn't seem as real to me than it does you because the baby isn't here for me to see or hold like it is inside of you. I can't feel it." He cleared his throat.
"But from what I have thought about it I realized that sometimes you have to step back from the movie of your own life and help direct others who come along and since I'm not all that good at holding a captivated audience on my end, I want to be the one for you and the baby." Again, his throat cleared as he moved closer to her. "Shaylyn... I'm not going anywhere. I didn't go anywhere when we broke up for that long period of time and I'm definitely not going anywhere now. I love you. I want us to be a family, a proper family. So..." The ring was pulled from the box and held in his hand for a moment, his eyes looking down at it before gazing up at Shay.
"I want you to marry me. It doesn't have to be now, it can be as far off in the future as you like or it can be as close as you like. Tomorrow, next year, I don't care. I'm ready. Will you marry me?"
