Roxanne didn't think enthusiasm was necessary. Not for life, not constantly. Sometimes you needed to be able to do what was necessary even if you didn't want to, even if you were tired or sick. In that sense, forbearance was much more useful than enthusiasm. Forbearance was a sign of discipline and maturity, and in the best examples showed that a person had their priorities straight. It was an invaluable quality in a friend.
But she wasn't here as a friend. She was here to do her job. "Change in mood and habits can be symptoms. Anything can be a symptom." Roxanne reminded her, jotting down a few more notes and setting the book out of the way on a nearby chair. She turned to her bag and reached for one of her gadgets. "The pain is everywhere? Where is it most severe?"
