Smiling gratefully at Lorcan, Lucia tried to hide her discomfort and snagged a small pinch of floo powder from her purse. "I can make it to St. Mungos by myself, if you want to stay for the concert. My hands aren't really that bad, just a little burned around the edges. I'm sure I'll be out of there before you even have time to worry about it."
Noticing Lorcan's worried expression, Lucia felt herself softening bit by bit. She had always taught herself to hide any weakness, and she had stood by that way of thinking for as long as she could remember. Crying or screaming wouldn't help in the long run, so she would push her emotions away and hide behind lists and charts.
"Lorcan, thank you for coming with me. I can do this on my own, though, and I don't want to ruin your night." Gathering up the brightest smile she could manage, Lucia hoped that Lorcan wouldn't see all of the emotions that were hiding just behind it.
